Name:
Keliantra Desdemonda Calahan
Age:
56 years old. She looks like she's about 15 or 16.
Gender:
Female
Appearance:
Keliantra could easily be called your average elf. She has all the characteristics of a normal; the pointed ears, the tall height, ect. But there really is so much more to her than "average elf" looks.
Keliantra has raven black hair, like many elves do. Her hair is long and straight, flowing past her waist. She takes good care of her hair, and as a result, it shimers and shines in the light. It's soft to the touch, like a feather. It is something to marvel upon and she takes pride in it.
She has a well rounded oval elven face with very delicate features. She has a long forehead, which she covers with long. black bangs. Her eyebrows are finely arched and rather thin. Her eyes are a dark blue-gray, like musky water. People have said that when she gets an idea, she eyes shine with life. Others say that when she is hunting or fighting, her eyes have fierce burning look to them. Her nose is rather small. Her lips are inbetween thick and thin and have that "delicate" look to them. Her smile is unique and shows off her teeth. Her ears are finely pointed and often covered by her hair.
Her body type is slim/slender, but fit for battle. She has long, thin fingers which helps her in archery. Her legs are long, which makes her a fast runner.
Keliantra likes to wear comfortable clothing. She believes that clothing effect how well you move and how fast you can be. Normally, she wears a dark brown, leather outfit consisting of a skirt that ends right above her knees and a sleeveless, tight shirt. Under her skirt her wears leggings in a lighter brown than her skirt. She often wears a black, hooded cape while traveling unless the heat is blistering. In the winters, she wears a long-sleeved shirt underneath her shirt, in the same shade as her leggings.
She wears high-topped boots; well for fighting and riding. She usually has a thick leather band on each wrist. During battle or traing, she wears a thinner leather band (like today's headbands) to keep her bangs back and ties her hair in a thin leather strap.
RP Example:
Keliantra woke with a start. She looked outside her window. Somehow, maybe instinctively, her body knew that it was before dusk, the time she needed to get up that morning. Her body was probably so used to getting up at that time on both the day before she would leave and the day of her departure that it probably had become instinct. She had done the same thing for so many years, it didn't come as a surprise for her.
Demetrius, her werecat, pushed her bedroom door open. Seems like you don't need me anymore, the werecat said, or rather, thought. "Don't be silly, Demetrius. Without you, who would go with me on my healing adventures?" She laughed. She shouldn't really call them adventures; they were hardly that. Some of the cases were so common and occurred so often that she could preform the task in her sleep. Others were lifethreatening where she actually had to think to help the person out.
She quickly and quietly got dressed and fastened her cloak over her shoulders. She knew that at this hour the weather would be quite chilly. She grabbed her herb basket. Faint light shined over the houses and she quietly exited hers, trying not to disturb her parents.
The city was deserted, or so it would seem if someone were to travel through it at this hour. People wouldn't be up for another hour or so and in all reality Keliantra herself should still be asleep but her trip the next day required her to get up early to pick herbs and buy supplies.
She walked towards the city's edge; towards the foothills. There was were she knew that many herbs she needed would be located. There was a faint squeak and she turned around to see Demetrius devouring a young mouse. Found breakfast, have you? She chuckled to herself.
She continued on her way, stopping to pick up an herb or two she found on her path. She heard a twig break behind her. She thought it was just Demetrius but even he couldn't eat a mouse, even a small mouse, that fast. She continued on but heard it again and wondered if she was being followed.
Rank:
Elf Healer/Egg Carrier (Future Rider)
Country:
Du Weldenvarden (city: Osilon)
Personality:
Keliantra Desdemonda Calahan can be a very hard character to desribe. She sort of has two sides to her. Keliantra might look like a delicate flower, but don't let that fool you. She can have a fiery temper and can snap at you in an instant. That is sort of a short description of her. She's growing out of her fiery temper though; it was more like something she went through when she was younger.
Keliantra is kind and respectful towards others. That's what her parents taught her. She loves to be able to help out others in need, which gives her a good personality for a healer. She cares about other people and hates to see people hurt or in some sort of discomfort. She is respectful of her elders, seeing as she's still like a teenager to the elves. She chooses her words wisely around others for she knows that one false move could ruin her reputation as a healer. She is a respected healer but things could easily turn bad for her.
But she has always longed for adventure. When she was younger, she would explore the foothills of a mountain near her home city, Osilon. She didn't really have a lot of friends for she preferred to do things alone. She's always been an adventurous young girl but she knows when to act polite.
She was taught the ancient language at an early age and enjoys reading and writing. She has written many poems in the ancient language and has an entire book of them. She has bought many books written in the ancient language and she loves to read them at night when she is traveling.
As she grew older, she developed a passion for swords and archery. She begged her father to teach her and he gave in. It took many years for her to get real good. It has become useful for her while she travels so she can protect herself and get food. She loved the craftmenship in each and the skill needed to become a master. She is devoted to her training and practices every day that she can.
Keliantra may be like her mother in looks, but she is like her father in temper. She has a fiery temper and a fiery spirit inside. The people who know her know not to mess with her when she's in a bad mood for she could snap on them. She's really getting close to outgrowing her temper, which is a very good thing. If she went around snapping at people, she wouldn't be a respected healer.
History:
Keliantra Desdemonda Calahan was born to Buramix and Alehsha Calahan on a stormy night, June 14. She was their only daughter and they charished her. They did have a son after her, Orion, but he died a few days after he was born.
Her studies in various subjects began early in her life. She was taught the ancient language by her mother. She loved the ancient language and insisted on speaking and writing in it. Her father taught her some magic but she would be forced to wait until later in her life to learn more.
As she became older, an interest sparked within her; swords. She loved how they looked and fighting with them. She was already fairly good in archery and figured that she should be good with a sword too. She begged and pleaded with her parents (her father was all for it, it was her mother that disagreed with it). Her mother finally gave in and her faher taught her everything he knew.
She realized that she had a gift for healing. She started learning about herbs and healing spells that could help. She became extremely good with magic and as a healer.
One day, while traveling through the Spine, Keliantra heard a strange noise. She followed it until she saw something caught in a hunter's trap and a few creatures around it. She didn't know what they were; she didn't exactly have a wide knowledge of creatures from the Spine. The creatures were smaller than her but they looked much stonger. The figure in the trap looked at each creature as they circled it. It was obviously fightened.
Then suddenly, the small creature and Keliantra made eye contact. She heard a faint voice say "Help me" but it was in her head. She wondered what they creature could be; she had never heard of a creature that could break through your mind.
She knew she had to do something; she couldn't just let the creature die. She called upon her magic and said "Risa" or "Rise" it took a lot of her strength to lift them to a reasonable height, then she let go; sending them hurdling to the ground. They were unconscience.
She released the creature from the trap. It looked like a cat; barely a year old. Again it spoke to her, Thank you. I am in your debt. My name is Demetrius. I am a werecat. Ever since that day, Demetrius has followed Keliantra where ever she decides goes.
Keliantra took her latest trip through the Spine not too long ago. She set out though the Spine because she had received word that there was a terrible sickness going around the coastal city, Narda. No one knew what the source of the sickness was but they all had the same symptoms. Keliantra, along with other close-by healers were contacted so that the sick could be healed and to stop the sickness from spreading elsewhere. Keliantra quickly gathered her things and set off for Narda.
She only passed through one city on her journey, Yazuac. There, she bought supplies for her and her horse. There were no other cities between Yuzuac and Narda. She was surprised to look in her saddlebag and see Demetrius, her werecat. I didn’t know you had tagged along, she told him, although she wasn’t really surprised. Demetrius loved to follow her where ever she went. Besides, she loved his company.
She set off again and reached the foothills of the Spine in three days. She had traveled through the Spine many times in her life. She had learned a lot from her travels through it and she often kept a log if she saw a new creature. The Spine had given her many gifts throughout the years. Special herbs were located in it. In fact, she had rescued Demetrius from a hunter’s trap in the Spine. He was never thrilled to go back in the Spine when he was with her but he always accompanied her anyway.
Keliantra couldn’t travel as fast as she had when she was going through Du Weldenvarden and Alagaësia. Here, in the Spine, she had to be careful and cautious. Evil lurked behind every tree; strangers and strange creatures were ready to attack. Going through the Spine slowed her down a lot. She feared that she wouldn’t be at Narda in time to help them. She wondered about the other healers. Most of them were older and wiser than she and had a longer distance to travel. Unless they had used magic, she would be one of the first ones there.
It had been two days since she had entered the Spine. She followed a path that she knew from her first days of exploring routes through the massive forest. She remembered those days. She had just finished her training and had been sent out to explore Du Weldenvarden and Alagaësia, healing all who needed her. Those days had been ones of much exploration and she had gained much needed experience. Many people didn’t think she would be helpful since she looked like a ten-year-old girl at the time. Now she is respected, even though she might look like she’s 16.
She followed the familiar path though the Spine. She figured that she could be out of the Spine in two to three days’ time and at Narda in three to four days. Suddenly, she saw something that she had never seen before along the side of the path. She didn’t know what it was. She continued to get closer and closer until the object became a house. Never before in her travels had she seen a house there before. Her last trip this way had been about half a year ago. There was no way someone could build a house that fast.
She pulled on her horses reins so he would stop. She dismounted and told Demetrius, “You go check out back.” Okay, so maybe it wasn’t a great idea, but she was way too curious. She walked to the front of the house. It looked old and rundown. She slowly walked up to the porch. She heard a voice, a female voice, beckoning her to come in. She called out to her werecat, Is there anything to fear?
Not that I can tell.
Gripping the end of her sword, she cautiously pushed the door open and entered the house. The interior was nothing like the outside. It was neat and decorated in colorful items. She looked to her left and saw an old lady lying in her bed. Keliantra was beckoned again. She went to the side of the lady’s bed and asked, “Who are you?”
The old lady replied in a voice that seemed not to be her own. It sounded young and fearless. “I am Elleshwanda, and I need your help.” Keliantra nodded in response. “Now listen carefully, my dear, for this story is of great importance.
“Many a years ago, while the age of the Dragon Riders were still peaceful, I found an dragon egg. Where I found it, I cannot tell you, even if I did remember. By the time I realized what it was, Galbatorix had taken over Alagaësia and there was no way of getting it to the Varden, or even to Du Weldenvarden.
“And so I hid my house from everyone using magic. Yes, m’dear, I can use magic. But now I am near death and I need someone to protect the egg for me. I am without a husband and children. When I sensed your presence a mile away, I decided that it was time to give the egg away. I could see inside your heart and your intentions. You are going to Narda to heal the sick. I’ve had people bring me supplies from Narda but I cannot trust them with the egg. Their intentions are not good at all.
“You will find the egg in a small room at the back of the house. It is locked. The key is in the top drawer over there.” She pointed to the set of drawers. Take the egg and guard it with your life. After you have it, please go immediately and leave me here to die alone.” Keliantra looked up in surprise but she nodded in agreement.
She found the key and went to the back room. Nervously, she unlocked the lock and opened the door. Inside she saw the egg. It was smooth and its color was silver and light blue swirled together. She had never seen something so beautiful in her life.
She took the egg and held it carefully in her arms. She walked towards the door, pausing to nod and the old lady. The lady smiled and Keliantra exited with the stunning dragon egg.
She put it carefully in her saddlebag and continued to Narda. When she reached they city, she, along with other healers, helped people with their sickness. It took two weeks.
Ever since then, Keliantra has kept the egg hidden. Recently, she has felt movement in the egg and believes it might hatch to her. Hopefully.
She is often traveling through Du Weldenvarden and Alagaesia, sometimes stoping at Farthen Dur.
